Website Developer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Website Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for web development, a strong technical background, and the ability to create functional, user-friendly websites that align with our clients’ needs and objectives. As a Website Developer, you will collaborate with our design and management teams to bring creative concepts to life and deliver high-quality websites that exceed client expectations.
Role & Responsibilities
Development
- Work well within a team to design bespoke websites using WordPress CMS, WooCommerce and Elementor.
- Have a strong understanding of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and MySQL with a creative UX/UI mindset.
- Administer and manage cPanel/Plesk configurations, and collaborate with hosting providers to align settings with website requirements.
- Implement best practices for web development, including mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and search engine optimization (SEO).
- Integrate third-party tools and APIs to enhance website functionality and user experience.
- Implement best practices for robust security measures to protect against vulnerabilities, hacks, and malware.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve development processes and deliver innovative solutions.
Design
- Collaborate with our designers and developers to translate visual concepts into responsive and user-friendly web interfaces.
- Work independently on wireframes, mock-ups and page designs that align with the clients brand
- Creation of sitemaps and user flows that highlight both form and function
Maintenance / Troubleshooting
- Perform regular updates, backups, and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal website performance and stability.
- Monitor website health, plugins, themes, and database to identify and address potential issues proactively.
- Conduct security audits and implement necessary security patches and updates to maintain a secure WordPress environment.
- Analyse website performance metrics and implement strategies such as image optimisations to enhance website speed, responsiveness, and overall user experience.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to CMS installations, plugins, themes, and custom code.
- Perform website updates, maintenance, and troubleshooting as needed.
Communication & Project Management
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to understand project requirements, provide updates, and address feedback in a timely manner.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Manage and maintain our existing portfolio of website clients.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 3+ years of professional experience in web development, preferably in an agency or digital marketing environment.
- Proficient with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Shopify.
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles.
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as Elementor and Bootstrap.
- Familiarity with back-end development technologies such as PHP, MySQL.
- Strong understanding of web standards, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimisation techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to debug and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.
- Understanding of design principles including inclusive design.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator)
- Portfolio showcasing a diverse range of web development projects demonstrating technical skill, creativity, and attention to detail.
